About London Lists
London Lists ranks the best places in the city, from Italian restaurants and Sunday roasts to pubs, bookshops and cinemas, and lets Londoners decide the order.
How the rankings work
Every list starts from a consensus. We look at what London's major guides and critics recommend and rank each place by how often (and how highly) it appears across them. That gives each list a solid starting order.
From there, your upvotes move places up. It takes a steady stream of votes to overtake the place above, so a handful of votes can't reshuffle a list overnight, but places Londoners genuinely love will rise.
Nominating places
Missing somewhere great? Every list has a “Nominate a place” box at the bottom. New places go straight onto the list, starting at the bottom, and climb with votes. We check new additions shortly after. If you suggest somewhere that's already listed, we count it as your upvote.
Areas
Each neighbourhood gets its own page, like Best of Soho, showing its top-ranked place in every category, handy when you know where you're going but not where to eat.
No accounts, no tracking
You can vote without signing up. To keep things fair we set one cookie so each browser votes once per place, and we limit votes per connection using an anonymised, daily-changing hash of your IP address. We don't store your IP address itself, and we don't use advertising trackers.
